From the time of bucket brigades and early fire engines and firehouses of the colonial period to today's apparatus and stations, "The Fire Houses of Albany" (hard cover, $40) traces the early development of firefighting in the city through its fire houses and fire companies. This book tells the story of the expansion of the fire service that followed Albany's growth over 400 years since its Europe settlement. The book is filled with historic and contemporary photos, architectural drawings and historical maps of many familiar firehouses.
